Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone.  Like me, I hope you have indulged in lots of HCB's and delicious Easter Eggs.  I love white chocolate the best and have quite a collection of white Lindt bunnies to get through over the coming weeks.  Yum Yum!  Here are the Easter Cards I sent out to my family this year.  The Punch Art Bunny is made out of Stampin' Up! punches. These were a lot of fun to make.  I hope you have a lovely long weekend with lots of family time and crafting.

Happy stamping,
Sue

Crazy Crafters Masculine April Blog Hop

Thank you for joining The Crazy Crafters team for our monthly blog hop.  The theme for the April Blog Hop is Masculine, chosen by our Host Nicole Spicer.  We hope you enjoy our virtual hop where you will learn great techniques for your paper crafting projects.

You should have just left stop number 4 on the Crazy Crafters Hop - Teena Maher at Stamping with Teena.  If so, you are in the right spot. If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

I have made a Top Note Gift Card Holder featuring a Raccoon Punch Art Project for the hop.  Rascal the Raccoon completes the trio of the cute forest critters.  In case you missed my Projects from last month's blog hop, you can see Pepe the Skunk and Reynard the Fox here.

Untie the ribbon to reveal the inside of the Gift Card Holder.  A message can be included on the left and a Gift Card included in the middle panel.

Here's a close up of Rascal.

The measurements for the Cardstock and DSP are:

Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack
~  Cut at 3 3/4" x 5"
~  Cut at 1 1/2" x 6"

Black Card Stock
~  Cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
~  Cut at 5" x 11", then Score at 3 3/4", 5 1/2" & 7 1/4"

Basic Gray Card Stock
~  Cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

Hints and Tips

  • When using Patterned Paper, make sure you cut both the strip with the pattern going the same way as the background patterned paper
  • Use the Word Window Punch to make the gift card slot.  Punch in the middle first, then on either sides.  Grab your gift card (or a plastic card) and make sure the slot is big enough to fit your gift card
  • Fold the largest piece of Black Card Stock at the score lines to look like an accordion fold.  When placing the card stock on the Top Note Die, make sure your front is facing down.  That way you will see the nice lines created by the Top Note Die on the front.  But most importantly, make sure you are only cutting one edge of the Top Note Die.  Move the card stock folded edge inside of the Top Note Die to achieve this.
  • Run one end of the DSP strip through the Top Note Die as it looks nice when layered on top of the card stock
  • Use Sticky Strip or a strong adhesive to join the back pieces of the gift card section together.  Place the sticky strip towards the edge of the fold and not the edge where the gift card slot is.  If you put sticky strip on the edge where the gift card slot is, you won't be able to push in the gift card.
  • If you'll be posting the gift card holder, be careful of the bulkiness created by the tied ribbon.  You may wish to put this in a padded envelope, just so the gift card holder does not get damaged during post.

The Top Note Gift Card Holder is a creative way to incorporate a Birthday Card (or any other occasion) and a Gift Card in one.

The next stop is Carolina Evans at Studio Evans, stop number 6 on the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop!

GO (Girls Only) Festival

Did you attend the GO (Girls Only) Festival at the Royal Exhibition Building during March 2014 and pop by the Stampin' Up! stand?  If so, you would have seen the gorgeous displays of papercraft projects made with Stampin' Up! products and maybe gave stamping a go at the make & take table at the stand.  This is the Masculine Cards Poster I made for the stand made with images from 'The Open Sea', 'By the Tide' and 'Wetlands' stamp sets.

These were the Gift Cards you could make at our stand, created by Genna
